Western Rock Lobster (WRL) is pleased to announce the Fishing Operations Committee (FOC) has welcomed two new fisher members, Adam Radford from Cervantes and Ryan Labruyere from Dongara, to the Committee.
Established earlier this year, the purpose of the FOC is to work collaboratively with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) on improving the operational aspects of the western rock lobster fishery in time for its transition across to the new Aquatic Resource Management Act.
After an initial assessment period it was decided that the FOC was functioning well and that it would continue to function well with additional benefits from two new fisher members.
Clay Bass, the Chair of FOC therefore recommended to the WRL Board that the next fisher on the list of original applicants from the north and south be invited to become new members of FOC. The Board approved this recommendation and welcomed the additional fishers involvement in WRL co-management and planning for the future of the western rock lobster industry.
Adam and Ryan have already attended their first FOC meeting on Wednesday 10th October and will add great value to the FOC going forward.
The members of the FOC now comprise of:
- Clay Bass, FOC Chair
- Matt Taylor, WRL CEO
