Matt Taylor CEO presented this morning at a breakfast function hosted by Agribusiness Australia. The topic was ‘Lobster Success – Sound growth strategy for the quiet achievers’.
Western Rock Lobster (WRL) is the peak industry body representing the interests of the western rock lobster fishery. WRL strive to ensure the catching sector of this valuable industry remains a viable, effective and responsible member of the fishing community, and represents industry on a range of issues.
The western rock lobster industry is a sophisticated, sustainable and serious industry which is critically important to our State. Over $500m to the WA economy; 6,300 tonnes of lobsters caught; 2,400 direct and indirect jobs! The industry is comparable to other WA primary industries but is set apart by its rapid growth in gross value in the years between 2010-15 of 125%.
It was great to showcase to others in Agribusiness the western rock lobster industy’s fantastic achievements to date, exciting initiatives underway and its growth strategy going forward.
