Global leaders in innovative, sustainable lobster management

WRL team move offices to the Fremantle wharf!

Western Rock Lobster (WRL) is excited to announce that our team have moved to a new location on the wharf in Fremantle! WRL has created a professional independent presence that you can be proud of as the WRL Board and Executive represent this great industry to all our stakeholders and visitors.

There were several motivating factors to make a move:

  1. Location. Our new office is only 50 metres from where lobster boats unload their catch for the day and next to two processing factories. The location provides our team with exceptional opportunity to further engage and consult with our many members, fishers and stakeholders. We have a casual open-door policy where we encourage all, from near and afar, to drop in any time to discuss industry issues, concerns and activities.
  2. Visibility. Our previous office had restricted access, no WRL signage and few people knew where we were. Our new location right on the wharf will boost our profile and provide us with an independent identity whilst we continue to professionally manage and represent our iconic industry.
  3. Space. WRL started with only 1 to 2 fulltime employees in the previous office. Our professionalism and representation has increased significantly over the last 18 months including an industry research and development program that is now almost 10 times larger. The new office provides WRL with privacy and significantly more space but importantly it allowed us to rethink our layout to better serve our members and stakeholders as well as better fit our team of four and how we’re growing. The space has six offices, a Boardroom and a great lounge area where we welcome our members and stakeholders to drop in for a coffee and a chat at any time if they’re in the area.

WRL and the industry are going through an exciting growth phase, and we look at this new location as the start of another chapter in our history.  Overall, the new office provides a space where members can feel comfortable to drop in and discuss concerns, a space where WRL can be proud to represent its members and industry, and a fantastic location where WRL can continue to establish its own independent identity.

We’re still working on getting settled in and adding the final touches but we’re incredibly excited to be in the new space. We are currently planning to have an official office opening that coincides with Fremantle’s Blessing of the Fleet given the parade through the city ends at our new office. In the meantime if you’re in the area we encourage you to drop in and say hi! We’ll be sending out details of this event soon.

Our new address is 28 Mews Road, Fremantle WA 6160. Please note our office contact numbers have remained the same and there is no need to update your phonebook.
