WRL Board resolve TACC recommendation(s) to the Minister for Fisheries for the 2019/20 season

Western Rock Lobster (WRL) would like to thank its members for their valuable contribution to Total Allowable Commercial Catch (TACC) discussions at the 2018 Management Meetings and those members who participated in the 2018 TACC and/or Annual Member surveys.

The 2018 Annual Member Survey showed that three quarters of respondents rated the establishment of the TACC Committee as the most important initiative undertaken by WRL in the past 12 months. In addition, the 2018 TACC Member Survey showed that 60% of respondents believe there should be an increase in TACC for the 2019/20 season. Please note that both survey reports will be emailed to members shortly.

At the 23 August Board meeting, the Board considered both of the member survey reports, as well as the TACC Committee report, stock assessment report, independent peer review of the western rock lobster model and science report and other industry submissions.

Following this due diligence and consideration, WRL is pleased to advise that at its meeting on 23 August 2018, the WRL Board resolved its TACC recommendation(s) to the Minister for Fisheries, the Hon. Dave Kelly, for the 2019/20 season.
